Henrick Kunkeyani, B.Sc., MA

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Henrick Kunkeyani is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Water For Generations. He is an accomplished health and social development practitioner; program strategist, NGO leader and project manager with over 21 years working experience leading and managing cross cultural social development programs in Malawi.

Over the years working in the NGO sector, Henrick has gained advanced skills in public policy formulation, advocating and influencing policy reforms, developing and sustaining stakeholder coordination, and public relations. Henrick has facilitated several development projects that have helped to leverage policy change and bring positive impact to millions of rural and needy populations in Malawi.

Furthermore, before founding Water For Generations, he worked as Country Director initiating development programs for Lions Aid Norway, AMREF Health Africa, and Freshwater Project International. In addition, Henrick served as USAID/PEPFAR - Programs Director leading the USAID (HIV, Malaria and TB Programs) at U.S. Peace Corps Malawi office.

Jess Murison, M.A. International & Intercultural Communication

Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

As a humanitarian, Jess has worked in the global health sector for almost a decade both in and out of the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) arena. Her background includes managing the monitoring and evaluation department of a nonprofit organization in international healthcare, program management for a WASH organization, and grant management for a large nonprofit in Colorado. Jessica is passionate about global health issues, especially as it pertains to women and children. Jess earned her Masters of Arts from the prestigious Josef Korbel School of International Studies with a degree in International & Intercultural Communications, concurrent with a graduate certificate in Global Health Affairs.

Although her work carried her across the globe, she continued to come back to Malawi year after year. Over those years, her work included conducting assessments in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Tengani and Mzuzu, collaborating with partners and government officials, with business development and administrative assignments. Aside from her work, Jess is the Director of Communications for the Colorado Public Health Association, President of the Board of Directors for the United Nations Association of Denver, a Rotary International member, and can be found enthusiastically enjoying the Colorado outdoors with her dog Sahara.

Adam is a skilled project manager with more than 20 years of professional experience in operations and logistics. After serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in Malawi for more than two years, Adam was a Coverdell Fellow at the University of Denver. During his career, he has also worked in IT, web development, and has held several leadership positions in non-profit and for-profit organizations

He holds a bachelor’s in business administration and Information Technology from Eastern Michigan University, and received his Master of Arts in International and Intercultural Communication from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver, specializing in state building.

His international experience includes conducting assessments of facilities in Malawi, Sri Lanka, Somaliland, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Madagascar, Comoros, and working on WASH projects in Malawi.

  • Amose Chitonde Kudzala

    Amose Chitonde Kudzala is a a highly effective and accomplished outcomes-oriented WASH Specialist with over 20 years’ experience with the United Nations and 15 years’ experience with governmental WASH Program planning and development, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building and sustainability. Successfully led teams to deliver WASH programs and donor funded projects, including: 1) UNICEF/European Union Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Program; 2) UNICEF/DFID Sanitation, Hygiene and Water in Nigeria; and 3) DGIS Accelerating Sanitation and Water for All funded by the Netherlands Government of the Netherlands. Amose has excelled through innovative and evidence-inspired WASH initiatives by applying an interdisciplinary approach in working with governments, NGOs, research institutions, the private sector, and donors to support WASH interventions.

    He has a Master’s degree in Community Health and Health Management in Developing Countries, Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences (Energy and Pollution) and Diploma in Public Health plus work experiences which has prepared him well to provide skilled leadership and guidance to our Water for Generations Programs.

  • Siphiwe Banda - née Gama

    Siphiwe Banda - née Gama is Retired Radio Personality and a renowned broadcaster who worked for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation. Before retiring, she served the State Broadcaster in different capacities including Regional Controller for the Central Region in Malawi. After retiring, she has worksd in several areas including as a Country Representative at AffriJapan (Malawi), as a Communication Engagement Specialist at Fitchner Engineering Consultants, and as a Communication Specialist at Water, Waste Water and Environment Management. Currently, she is a pastor and also a media and communication consultant. She is passionate about supporting Water for Generations’ efforts in Malawi.

    Siphiwe Banda has a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Mass Communication.

  • Yonamu Ngwira

    Yonamu Ngwira is an accomplished and renowned higher education administrator with over 23 years’ experience supporting the delivery of university programs for various faculties. He is the current University Registrar at Mzuzu University – a public institution of higher learning in Malawi. His main interest is quality assurance in supporting and delivering higher education. He is a consultant, trainer, assessor of higher education institutions and a medical school project coordinator at Daeyang mission University in Malawi.

    Yonamu has a Master’s degree in Public Communication and Public Relations (with merit), University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom and Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, University of Malawi, Chancellor College.

  • Steve Werner

    Steve Werner is an international development consultant with a 25-year career working with large NGOs, such as CARE, Habitat for Humanity, Water For People, and the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. His major focus is capacity building, program development and evaluation, fundraising planning, and board development. He served in Peace Corps – Korea as a two-year volunteer from 1976 – 1978 and Peace Corps Response Volunteer – Georgia from 2016 – 2017. He has served in Rotary International, through the Rotary Club of Denver Southeast, since 1989, and still serves at the Club, District and International levels as a Water and Sanitation specialist. He has served in Leadership San Antonio, the Kellogg National Leadership Program, and the Salzburg Seminar. He is a past board chair of the National Peace Corps Association. Steve, along with other Denver area Rotarians, helped to develop the partnership between Peace Corps and Rotary International. Steve is the current charter president of Partnering for Peace: Friends of Peace Corps and Rotary. He has three grown children and five grandchildren.

  • Joe Miklosi

    Joe Miklosi has been serving the public and bridging goals in the government, business, and nonprofit sectors in Colorado, Washington, D.C. and around the globe for 29 years. Joe believes that combining the time, talent and treasure from the government, business, and nonprofit sectors will solve today’s most challenging obstacles. Joe’s diverse professional background includes helping start a software company, working for President Bill Clinton, serving four years in the Colorado State House of Representatives, running for U.S. Congress in 2012, and working in 35 developing nations on healthcare and agriculture projects to reduce poverty and to empower people to live more successful lives. In 2015, Joe combined his business, nonprofit, and government careers and created Bridge Consulting – a public benefit corporation. Bridge Consulting provides international development, government relations, public policy, and nonprofit consulting services to corporate and nonprofit clients to solve today’s most important challenges. Joe hails from the small farming community of New Boston, Michigan, he played college golf at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, served as a Rotarian for eight years, he is an avid runner, and adores the Michigan Wolverines football team.

  • Peter Van Arsdale

    Peter Van Arsdale, Ph.D., is an applied anthropologist, activist, author, and educator with a 50-year career. Retired in 2020 from the University of Denver, he still serves there as a Global Fellow (pro bono), working with its Africa Center. He is co-founder of the university's Humanitarian Assistance Program, and also co-founder of The Denver Hospice and The Rocky Mountain Survivors Center. As a fellow of The Explorers Club, he has worked or traveled on all seven continents. Peter is also active with Rotary International.
